2011 Native American Sacagawea Dollar Coin Launches in Plymouth, Massachusetts

The United States Mint held a launch ceremony for the 2011 Native American Dollar on January 12, 2011. The ceremony was held at the Plimoth Plantation Henry Hornblower II Visitor Center in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

The Native American $1 Coin is authorized by Public Law 110-82-the Native American $1 Coin Act of 2008 (ACT). The Act requires the United States Mint to mint and issue $1 coins with designs celebrating the important contributions of Indian tribes and individual Native Americans to the history and development of the United States. The 2011 Native American $1 Coin is the third coin issued in the program, which launched in 2009.
