One of the Largest Hoards of 2nd Century Roman Silver Coins Found in Britain


Nearly 600 silver denarii were uncovered ranging from the reign of Emperor Nero (AD54 to 68) to Emperor Antonio Pius (AD138 to 161).

A HOARD of Roman coins discovered in a Newport field will be under the microscope at the National Roman Legion Museum later this month.  The Roman coins were uncovered by amateur archaeologist Brian Stephens in a pasture field near his home in Llanvaches in June 2006.

They are believed to be one of the largest second century silver coin hoards recorded from Roman . . .
