Bill Farnsworth of Austin, Texas, must feel like he hit the lottery jackpot.

He wasn't a fan of auctions or rummage sales, but he went along to make his wife, Cindy, happy. At one, she bought several boxes of used textbooks for $10. Most people would look at that as just more clutter.
