Widow Finds Rare Shipwreck Gold Coin Worth Almost $500,000

A Tunbridge Wells pensioner who found an old coin whilst clearing out her late husband's chest of drawers has sold it at auction for almost £300,000.

The widow, who has not been named, was told the item - from gold seized by the British from a Spanish treasure ship in 1702 - was worth around £120,000 after discovering it.

But it sold for the staggering sum . . .
